The UFA Announces The Death of Probationary Firefighter Jamel M. Sears

On behalf of more than 9,000 New York City Firefighters, the UFA extends our deepest condolences to the family of Probationary Firefighter Jamel M. Sears.

While only a recent addition to the Fire Department family, Firefighter Sears showed early in his training that he had a passionate desire to dedicate his life to protecting others.

Long before joining the FDNY, Jamel served his nation as a member of the U.S. Navy and to him, like so many other New York City Firefighters, this was not just a job but rather a career calling.
