CIRCUS TICKETS - DEADLINE DECEMBER 27th - URGENT - LAST CHANCE FOR PREMIUM SEATING

10-51 CONFUSION
There appears to be contradictory statistics being used to guide whether a 10-51 is granted or not. As stated in Delegate Manual section Blue 1, don’t be misled by media reports of a “HEAT INDEX”, which is NOT the same thing as the contractual T.H.I. (Temperature humidity index) or Wind Chill factor. Technological advances have made our old SOP of calling (212 or 718) 976-1212 obsolete. That telephone message of the current hourly weather report was not officially the National Weather Service, but rather a courtesy service provided by Bell Atlantic. It was always used to determine current measurements because it used to be the only readily available report. The National Weather Service is now on the Internet providing hourly updates to on-line users and does not currently have telephone access for the same purpose. Bell Atlantic data will provide you with close measurements but will not be exact to official specifications. City Hall’s Office of Emergency Management receives printouts from the National Weather Service on an hourly basis and forwards a fax to the FDNY Emergency Operations Command. The printout contains the exact THI or Wind Chill factor, without the need for any reference chart. The only source for this info is E.O.C. or www.nws.fsu.edu/data/text/sfcobs/SXUS01.KNYC.

NEW YORK STATE COMMUNITY MAYOR’S CHRISTMAS PARTY
Once again, this grand annual event for handicapped and retarded children will be held at Kennedy Airport. We urgently need volunteers, wearing anything identifying yourself as a firefighter, on Tuesday, December 7 (preparation) and Wednesday, December 8 (party day). Assistance is needed on both days, especially Tuesday
from 0900 hours until noon. Wednesday’s recommended hours are 0830 until 1300 hours. Join Santa, Mayor
Giuliani, Leslie Uggams, personalities from the W.W.F. and others in brightening the day with holiday cheer and you will be guaranteed a gratifying experience. These special children really need you. Please turn out.
“NO MAN IS SO TALL AS WHEN HE STOOPS TO HELP A HANDICAPPED CHILD”. Take the Van Wyck Expressway South to Federal Circle - go around the circle, under the overpass and make a right turn onto the North Service Road ... follow signs to Hangar # 19. A collation will follow Wednesday’s party as a show of thanks.
