1. NY Islanders / UFA Elsasser Fund Fundraiser
REMINDER: On Saturday, March 10th at 7pm the NY Islanders will take on the NJ Devils. Tickets: $30 (orig. $50) and $50 (orig. $99). A portion of proceeds from each ticket sold, will go to the Thomas Elsassser Fund which benefits the families of those who die non-line of duty. 2. Keith Desjardin Fundraiser
REMINDER: On Saturday, March 10th at 7:30pm Friends of Keith in conjunction with the Breslau Company E-1 will be hosting a fundraiser for Keith Desjardin, brother of Matt Desjardin (E-325). It will be held at at the Lindenhurst Firemen's Pavilion located on the grounds of the Firemen's Memorial Park (off of Hartford Street) in Lindenhurst, NY. Keith has been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) a.k.a. Lou Gehrig's disease. Keith is a member of the Lindenhurst FD. 3. St. Baldrick's Foundation Fundraiser
REMINDER: On Sunday, March 11th 12-6pm, St. Baldrick's Foundation - Be a hero for KIDS with cancer "Head-shaving event for childhood cancer research" will be held at 526B Larkfield Road, East Northport, NY 11731. 4. 2012 Fire Bell Club Scholarship Award Application
Applications for the Fire Bell Club Scholarship Award are now available. Applications can be obtained from Ms. Jacqueline Merveil, FDNY Registrar, at 718-281-8465. Eligibility: (1) Applicants must be active FF's 5th Grade and above & Officers who have been accepted or are attending an accredited institution of higher learning. (2) FF's/Officers who are pursuing a degree in Fire Service Administration, Public Service Management, Nursing or a related Fire Service discipline and who have completed a minimum of twelve credits. Applicants must submit a written statement of 500 words explaining why an applicant should be considered for award. Award: $500. Deadline: April 30th.
5. 8th Annual Pat's Run
On Saturday, April 21st in Tempe, AZ the 8th annual Pat's Run will take place. FDNY Members are still needed to join TEAM BRAVEST which will run in memory of Pat Tillman (and all service men and women who made the supreme sacrifice).
