1. FF Ray Pfeifer (E-40) Fundraiser
REMINDER: On Saturday, March 31st from 2-8pm at East Meadow Fireman's Benevolent Association located at 170 Maple Ave, East Meadow NY 11554 a fundraiser will be held for FF Ray Pfeifer (E-40). Ray was deeply committed to the recovery effort at Ground Zero and now he is battling a tenacious form of cancer. Turn out and help Ray and his family offset the heavy cost of his cancer treatments. Tickets: $40 per person. The night will be filled with great food, entertainment, and plenty of great prizes.
2. 2012 NYS Honorary Fire Chiefs Scholarship
REMINDER: The NYS Honorary Fire Chiefs will be granting two $2,500 scholarships to active members of the UFA who will be enrolled in college level classes in the 2012-2013 school year. To be eligible, please list your current college standing and number of credits earned, as well as the name of the school you are / will be attending and your major. Please include a three paragraph essay on your plans once you have completed your degree. Also please describe why you should be considered for this scholarship: i.e., your contributions to the FDNY and/or your community. Completed information must be submitted in an envelope clearly labeled NYS Honorary Fire Chiefs Scholarship to Joseph Miccio, UFA Recording Secretary, at 204 E. 23rd Street, New York, NY 10010, by March 30th. Note: Those who have already been awarded any other FDNY scholarship for the 2012-2013 school year will not be eligible. Recipients of the UFA scholarship are eligible.
3. 88th Annual Communion Mass And Breakfast (Manhattan, Bx., S.I.)
On Sunday, April 15th at 10:15am the Fire Department Holy Name Society, Manhattan, Bronx, and Staten Island, will hold its 88th annual Communion Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral. The breakfast will follow at the New York Hilton Hotel, 6th Avenue and 53rd Street, at 11:30am. Donations: $47.50 per person. For ticket reservations, send a check to the Holy Name Society, Attention: Chris Ward, 1800 Pettit Avenue, North Merrick, NY 11566. Spouses and children are cordially invited. RSVP before March 30th. Members are requested to attend in dress uniform. Members attending the mass shall assemble on 51st Street, East of 5th Avenue at 9:45am.
4. 2012 Holy Name Society (Manhattan, Bx., S.I.)Scholarship Drawing
REMINDER: The Holy Name Society, Manhattan, Bronx and Staten Island, will hold a Higher Education Scholarship Drawing at their annual Communion Breakfast on April 15th. The scholarships consist of two (2), one thousand five-hundred dollar awards, payable to any college or trade school of the winner's choice. Members must be in good standing in this society and the winners are in their twelfth year of education. Members must be present at the Breakfast to win and have submitted an application. Applications can only be obtained from Scholarship Chairman, William P. Treanor, 98 Bay Street, Bronx, NY 10464.
