A raging fire in a housing project yesterday killed a mother of three and sent her husband to the hospital in critical condition as their children miraculously survived the blaze with minor injuries, authorities said.

The fire engulfed the family's second-floor apartment in the Marble Hill Houses in upper Manhattan at about 4:30 p.m.
The couple's three children -- 10 and 13-year-old boys and an 18-year-old girl -- were taken to the New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
The 46-year-old mother was pronounced dead at the scene, while paramedics worked to save the 47-year-old dad with CPR.
"I was praying to God, 'Please let him live,' " said a neighbor named Reina, 26. "If he dies, those poor kids. Those kids need a father."
Investigators believe the married couple was sleeping when the fire was sparked by an appliance in the bedroom, a source said.
