1. St. Florian Day Mass
On Friday, May 4th at 11am, the Church of the Assumption, 15 Webster Avenue, Staten Island will hold a mass in honor of all members of the FDNY and to celebrate the feast of St. Florian (Patron Saint of Firefighters). Immediately following the mass, there will be a ceremony at the Chapel of St. Paul, 145 Clinton Avenue, Staten Island, located a few blocks away, where a memorial dedicated to members of the FDNY who died in the Line of Duty and lived in Staten Island is located. All off-duty members and their families are invited to attend as a mark of respect to the deceased. Members are requested to attend in dress uniform.


2. 2002 Fire Academy Class 10-Year Reunion
On Saturday, May 5th from 6-9pm the 2nd FDNY Fire Academy class of 2002 is having a 10 year reunion at Copia located at 307 East 53rd St. (btwn 1st & 2nd Aves.) in Manhattan. Tickets: $35. For more info contact Chris Viola (E-65), 347-968-9860.


3. Community Mayors Day at Coney Island--Volunteers Needed
On Wednesday, May 9th at 11:30 am, Community Mayors Inc. is sponsoring a day for children with special needs at Luna Park, Coney Island. Volunteers will be needed as the Community Mayors help bring special needs children to Luna Park. For more info contact Shelley Della Roca, 908-268-9016 or go to www.communitymayors.org.


4. Benefit for Beth Young
On Saturday, May 12th at 5pm there will be a fundraiser for Beth Young. Beth is the wife of FF Keith Young of TL-158. Beth has recently been diagnosed with advanced stages of breast cancer. Keith and Beth are the proud parents of 3 children. The members of TL-158/E-311 would like to return the favor for all the Young's have done for other members of the fire service. The fundraiser will be held at the Nassau County Firefighter's Museum located at 1 Davis Avenue (Museum Row) Garden City, NY 11530. Donations: $50 for adults, $25 for ages 18-21, FREE for children under 18. 50/50 raffle, Chinese auction, live entertainment along with food and beverages will be provided. 5. FF Thomas Brick College Scholarships
The FDNY is now accepting applications for this year's Firefighter Thomas Brick scholarship program named to honor the fallen firefighter. College scholarships are available to all active FDNY fire officers and firefighters who plan to take one or more courses during the 2012-2013 academic year. Scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded and can be used for course tuition and textbook costs. Applications are available on the FDNY Intranet and should be returned to Chief of Department, Edward Kilduff, by Friday, May 18, 2012.
