1. FDNY Anchor Club
On Saturday, May 17th, 12:30pm-3pm, the Anchor Club is sponsoring a "Visit to St. Rose's Cancer Home," located at 71 Jackson Street in Manhattan (alongside the FDR Drive). The outline for the day includes visiting with the patients and providing some light entertainment. All FDNY members & their families are invited to participate. 2. 2008 Special Olympics
Volunteers are needed to assist in setting up on Friday, May 30th from 9am-1pm & for the games held on Saturday, May 31st from 8am-4pm. The Special Olympics will take place at the Riverbank State Park at 145th St. & Riverside Drive in Manhattan. Come out and donate your time to a great cause! It is truly a rewarding experience. 3. FDNY VS. NYPD Football Game
On Sunday, June 1st, at 2pm, the FDNY Bravest Football Team will be playing the NYPD Finest in the 36th Annual Fun City Bowl at Hofstra University in Hempstead, Long Island (Nassau County). 4. FF Michael Elferis (E-22) 5K Memorial Run
On Saturday, June 7th, 10am, at McNeil Park located on 119th St. & Poppenhusen Ave. in Queens. Pre-registration: $15, Race day: $20, includes food, beverages, raffles, and more. 5. Nursing Career Workshop
On Thursday, June 12th, 10am-12:30pm the FDNY and the Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY) will be co-hosting a Nursing Career Workshop at Fort Totten, Building 405. Mari Moriarty, M.A., RN from the VNSNY will lead the Workshop. This Workshop will help FDNY members explore Nursing as a possible second career, and discover what is necessary to become a Registered Nurse.
