1. Lt. John M. Clancy / FF Jimmy O'Shea Memorial Scholarship Fund
In memory of Lt. John M. Clancy & FF Jimmy O'Shea ten $1000 awards will be presented to full time college students who are children of active members of the Department. To be eligible, send students name, address, and proof of enrollment in an accredited College or University, along with the name and unit of the member to FF Richard Berkhout, E-298, 153-11 Hillside Avenue, Jamaica, NY 11432. 2. Lt. John M. Clancy / FF Jimmy O'Shea Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing
On Thursday, October 2nd, at 10am, at Rock Hill Country Club in Manorville, N.Y. The outing is all-inclusive and costs $170. Tee and Hole sponsorships cost $100. 3. FDNY Hockey Team Tryouts
On Thursday, September 18th & September 25th at 10am there will be tryouts held at the Aviator Sports Complex located at hanger #5 of Floyd Bennett Field in B'klyn, NY. For info call Bill Krammerer, 516-897-0449 or 516-851-1282.
4. 1st Annual Carpluk / Reilly Memorial Run
On Friday, September 26th, at Orchard Beach in the Bronx. Registration: 10am. Race begins: 11am. Tickets: $25. Proceeds go to the Carpluk & Reilly Memorial Funds. Food & beverages will be sold. For more info contact E-75/L-33, 718-430-0275 or E-42, 718-430-0242.
5. John Jay College Tuition Reimbursement Fall - 2008
The Department is offering a tuition reimbursement plan for all uniformed members who are registered for courses at John Jay College. To be eligible for reimbursement members must: 1. download form John Jay-Notification of Registration for Fall 2008 Semester (JJ-1) from the Intranet forms section. 2. complete form JJ-1 and mail or fax the form to the FDNY College Advisor by October 1st, 2008. 3. receive a grade of C or better in their selected course(s) and forward a copy of their transcript and proof of tuition payment to the FDNY College Advisor by January 10th, 2009. Any member who has received tuition funds from any other FDNY Scholarship Program is ineligible for any John Jay College tuition reimbursement for the Fall 2008 semester.
