Per Dept Order #36, the Unified Call-Taking program went into service on Monday, May 4th. Most 911 calls requesting the FD will be processed by PD 911 call-takers and routed via a computer link to FDNY Fire Alarm Dispatchers for dispatch.
According to the Dept, the new alarm source, "UCT/911-Alarm," will indicate the run has been processed by a Unified Call Taker (UCT). There may also be minor changes in the appearance of information on some alarm tickets. The Department has directed that in the event of any serious concerns or issues, units are directed to report their concern in writing to the Bureau of Communications in standard, written format.
Critical, time sensitive inquiries may be made to the dispatcher via phone, as required. The UFA strongly urges members encountering any information discrepancies or response problems in the field which are the result of a "UCT/9-11 Alarm" Unified Call-Taker ticket, to fax the run ticket and a copy of your Officer's Unusual Occurrence Report to the UFA Recording Secretary's Office at 212-683-4359, Attn. Joe Miccio.
If a UCT ticket contributes to a serious life threatening incident, or injuries, immediately contact the UFA general number, 212-683-4832, to speak with the covering Trustee.
Fraternally,
Stephen J. Cassidy

Joseph A. Miccio
