1. 7th Annual Michael Kiefer (L-132) Walk-Run
On Saturday, June 13th at 11am on the Long Beach Boardwalk at Michael Kiefer's Memorial bench located between Lincoln & Monroe Blvd. A dedication of Michael's Memorial Van will take place at 11am on Lincoln Blvd. Donations can be made at the start of the race or mailed to Kiefer Family, 714 Pine Street, FDNY FF Michael Kiefer Street, Franklin Square, NY 11010. Make checks payable to: FDNY FF Michael Kiefer Fund. All proceeds benefit the NY Firefighters Burn Center Foundation and FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation.
2. 8th Annual "Forever Running" Memorial Run
On Sunday, June 21st, the DC Raymond M. Downey 8th Annual Father's Day "Forever Running" Memorial 5K Run/Walk and Quarter-Mile Kids Fun Run will be held. The 5K run will take place at 10am and the Kids Fun Run at 9:30am in Deer Park, Long Island. Pre-registration fee for 5K run is $15, for children grades K-12, $10. Kids Fun Run is free. Special awards, raffle prizes, carnival entertainment, and a family barbecue will follow the run. All proceeds benefit the DC Raymond Downey Scholarship Charity Fund. 3. Putnam County Blood Drive
On Friday, June 26th, at the O'Brien VFW Hall, Rt.52 Carmel, NY, from 2:30-8pm members of the FDNY will be hosting a Blood Drive. Walk-ins welcome. Food & refreshments will be on hand. Any questions call Paul DeLeo (L-41) 718-430-0290 or Paul Zenir (L-37) 718-430-0279.
4. Lt. John M. Clancy/FF Jimmy O'Shea Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Lt. John M. Clancy/FF Jimmy O'Shea Memorial Scholarship Fund will present ten $2500 awards and ten $1000 awards to full time college students who are children of active members of the Department. To be eligible, complete an application and provide proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university. DEADLINE: August 1, 2009. For applications send a stamped, self addressed envelope to Ret. FF Rich Berkhout (E-298), 26 Newport Beach Blvd., East Moriches, NY 11940. The Scholarship Awards will be randomly selected at the reception following this year's Lt. John M. Clancy/FF Jimmy O' Shea Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing. 5. Lt. John M. Clancy/FF Jimmy O'Shea Memorial Golf Outing
On Tuesday, August 18th, 10am at the Rock Hill Country Club, Manorville, NY. The outing is all-inclusive and costs $170. Tee and Hole sponsorships cost $100. For golf outing info, call 631-278-5021.
