    UFA Union Delegates Strongly Affirm Tentative Contract Agreement
    Process Moves to Full Membership Vote in Late December

    Today Uniformed Firefighters Association (UFA) delegates representing every FDNY fire company voted heavily in favor of the ratification of the 2010-2017 collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with the deBlasio Administration. The vote was 254 to 115 in favor of the contract, a 69% approval rate.

    As a next and final step in the UFA ratification process, election ballots will be mailed by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) on December 10 to the homes of all New York City Firefighters and will be counted on December 22. The tentative agreement was originally announced in early August.

    “When the UFA settled its expired contract: it also resolved other critical matters. The new agreement adds 20 five-firefighter engine companies and permanently protects firefighter staffing levels forever (C+20). The CBA also restores real disability benefits for all New York City Firefighters hired since July 1, 2009,” said UFA president Steve Cassidy.

    The wage portion of the CBA is retroactive to August 1, 2010 and expires on July 31, 2017, representing an 11.51% compounded increase.

    Mr. Cassidy continued, “Our city’s firefighters should not have to worry about who will care for their families if they are seriously or permanently injured in the line of duty and this tentative agreement takes that worry off the table forever. Given that multiple uniformed unions had already established the wage pattern, the vote reflects the UFA delegates’ recognition that this was the best contract achievable.”
