Transcript :60 – Yield to FDNY Vehicles (**Fire Siren Sound)

I’m Steve Cassidy, President of the Uniformed Firefighters Association. During this busy holiday travel season, I ask all New Yorkers to yield to Fire Department vehicles, because every second counts when lives are on the line.

The last 12-years have been the busiest in FDNY history, with firefighters doing more than ever to keep our city and its citizens safe. In that time, New York City Firefighters have responded to nearly 6 million emergencies, including: fires, train derailments, explosions, gas leaks, acts of terror and medical emergencies.

We thank you for your trust and support. We know that public safety is of the utmost importance to you and your family, as it is to us.

So when you see the flashing lights or hear the siren of an FDNY vehicle, please yield the right of way, because arriving quickly at the emergency we are rushing to may save a life!
