SUMMARY:A-TEAM SCHOLARSHIP
DESCRIPTION:The family and friends of Lt. Joseph Cavalieri\, FF Christopher Bopp and FF James Bohan have established an A-Team Scholarship in their memory. The scholarship will award a freshman entering a private high school in September 2026 five hundred ($500) dollars each year. The student must submit an essay describing why they want to attend the particular private high school. The student must maintain a C or better average throughout high school. The scholarship competition is open to any child of an active or retired member of the UFA or UFOA. Applicants must submit an essay with parent’s name\, address\, phone number and work unit. SUMMARY:FREE SKIN CANCER SCREENINGS FDNY Fleet Services | FDNY Headquarters
DESCRIPTION:The Fire Department in conjunction with the FDNY Annual BioPad Event\, has arranged free Skin Cancer Screenings for all members\, active and retired\, in an effort to help prevent one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among firefighters. \nThe screenings will be held on Saturday\, October 3\, 2026\, and Sunday October 4\, 2026\, from 9:00am to 8:00pm\, at FDNY Fleet Services\, 48-58 35th Street\, Long island City\, NY 11101 and FDNY Headquarters\, 9 Metrotech Center\, Brooklyn\, NY 11201. Dermatologists will be on site to conduct the screenings. \nWe encourage all members to take advantage of this potentially life-saving screening. The process only takes about 10 minutes but could be vital in detecting your risk for skin cancer. None of your information will be shared with the Department. Firefighters will be advised to follow up with their own dermatologist should anything of note be detected during their screening. \nThere is NO registration or signup required for this event. Simply stop by either location during screening hours.

DESCRIPTION:Permission is granted to off-duty members of the Department to participate in the 89th Annual Pulaski Day Parade\, on Sunday\, October 4\, 2026. Members and families are welcome. Members are asked to attend in Class A Uniform. Family members are encouraged to wear red and white.
