Firefighter Michael J. Cawley was killed in the collapse of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 along with many of his firefighting brothers and fellow New Yorkers. His family and friends have established a Memorial Foundation in his honor with the goal of continuing to touch the lives of others in a positive way, which Michael always did when he was alive.

Each year on the Saturday in April closest to Michael’s birthday, a benefit is held at Mulcahy’s in Wantagh, New York for two reasons — to celebrate the life and legacy of Michael Cawley with a huge party where everyone has a wonderful time, eating and drinking well and connecting with old and new friends, and to raise a large sum of money for a number of worthy causes, including scholarships for deserving students to go to Michael’s alma mater Archbishop Molloy High School.
