33RD ANNUAL CITY HARVEST CANNED FOOD DRIVE

January 15, 2016 @ 12:00 am

The Fire Department is proud to once again participate in the Annual City Harvest Canned Food Campaign. This is the Department’s 33rd year supporting this food drive. The drive runs from Tuesday, October 27th and will continue until January 15th. Last year, New Yorkers donated over one million pounds of food to help feed the homeless, the elderly and the working poor. All Firehouses and EMS Stations have been designated as collection points for the public who wish to donate canned food. Members should also expect schoolchildren to be bringing donations to the Firehouses and EMS Stations. Call the Food Sourcing Team to schedule a pick-up at 1-800-77-HARVEST (1-800-774-2783). City Harvest will have trucks available in all five boroughs. Their goal is to pick up within 48 hours. Decorate the box with the Food Drive Poster. Food should be packed in sturdy boxes not to exceed 50 pounds. Please give one or two names as contacts for dispatchers and drivers, this will help to make hassle-free pick-ups. City Harvest will pick up all types of canned, dry packaged food. City Harvest does not accept food packaged in glass or perishable food, i.e., meat, fruit, dairy.
