Eligibility: The scholarship competition is open to high school seniors & recent high school graduates who will not have completed more than one year of college by September 2016. Applicant must not have graduated from high school before 2015. Applicant must be a child of an active uniformed union member of the NYS Professional Firefighters Association. Members of the Executive Board or employees of the NYS Professional Firefighters Association or their children are not eligible. Announcement of Winners: Scholarship winners will be announced at the 78th Annual Convention of the NYSPFFA, Ithaca, NY, June 27-30, 2016. Awards: Awards are made when the recipient has registered at an accredited undergraduate college as a full-time student or any school furthering education beyond high school. Amount: An award of $2500 is given to those students who are selected. College Entrance Exams: Applicants will be required to take the SAT or ACT test. Students must have taken this examination no later than January of 2016. Scholarship Essay: Approximately 400-500 words indicating why you should be the recipient of the award.
