JUNETEENTH TOUR OF PLYMOUTH CHURCH

June 20 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and was recognized as a national holiday in 2021 and a NYC holiday in 2022. Plymouth Church, which is a church nearby to the FDNY Headquarters, has a rich history of fighting against slavery and where many runaway slaves passed through on the Underground Railroad. On February 10, 1963, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke at Plymouth and gave a speech called “The American Dream.” If you would like to learn more about its history please join the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in a guided tour:
