FDNY WTC 20th Anniversary Memorial Service in Memory of Our Fallen Heroes
September 11, 2021 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
On Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 1330-1530 hours, a memorial service will be held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan honoring the 343 members of the Department who died on September 11, 2001, and the 257 members who succumbed to WTC-related illnesses as a result of their work in the rescue and recovery effort following the terrorist attacks.
Family members of the fallen will be given priority seating inside the Cathedral, located on 5th Avenue between 50th and 51st Streets. While there will be limited seating and standing room at the rear of the Cathedral for FDNY personnel, the service will be simulcast, and additional seating will be available in St. Thomas Church at 1 West 53rd Street on 5th Avenue.
At 1230 hours, active and retired uniformed members will be invited to line 5th Avenue at 51st Street as a mark of respect as the honor families arrive.
Public transportation is highly recommended. There are no provisions for private vehicle parking. All off-duty members are requested to attend in dress uniform as a mark of respect to our fallen members and their families. At the conclusion of the memorial service, all members will be brought to the position of attention in front of the Cathedral, while our families are exiting.
The event will be livestreamed on www.nyc.gov/FDNY.
