The 14th Anniversary of September 11th

The FDNY will host or participate in a number of commemorative ceremonies to honor the 343 members lost by the Department on September 11, 2001.

NATIONAL 9/11 MEMORIAL
On Friday, September 11th, an observance will take place at the National September 11th Memorial Plaza at the WTC Site at Liberty Street and Trinity Place. Family members of the victims who perished in 2001 at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on Flight 93, as well as the six victims of the 1993 WTC bombing, have been invited to participate in this year’s reading of the names.


QUEENS MEMORIAL
On September 11th at 8am, a memorial service will be held at 25-33 154 Street in Whitestone, Queens, located on the garden grounds of North Presbyterian Church. They are requesting FDNY members to join them during the service and read the names of the 343 fallen firefighters. Interested members should contact Daniel Naimoli, 646-515-2015.


FIREMEN’S MONUMENT MEMORIAL
On September 11th at 9:30am, members of Battalion 18 will host the annual Memorial Services at the Firemen’s Monument on Riverside Drive and 100th Street. All members and their families are invited to attend. A Mass at St. John the Divine will follow at 12:15pm.


MEMORIAL MASS
On Friday, September 11th at 10:30am, E-54/L-4/B-9 will host a Memorial Mass honoring the fallen FDNY members who perished on September 11th, 2001. The mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Manhattan. All off-duty members and their families are invited to attend. Members are requested to attend in dress uniform.


CANDLELIGHT VIGIL
The FDNY Retirees, Staten Island Division, is sponsoring its 14th annual candlelight vigil at the Alice Austen House, located at 2 Hylan Blvd. in Rosebank, from 4:30 to 9pm. The candlelight vigil will be accompanied by bagpipers, a 21-gun salute from the Marine Corp. League, musical performances and more. Refreshments are complimentary; bring your own lawn chair.


STATEN ISLAND MEMORIAL
On September 11th at 6pm, the Office of the Staten Island Borough President will host a Memorial Service at the Staten Island September 11th. Memorial located adjacent to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal. All members and their families are invited to attend.


PUTNAM COUNTY REMEMBERANCE
On Friday, September 11th there will be a Mass of Remembrance at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel at 7pm. Following the mass there will be the annual Candlelight vigil at the Putnam Heroes Monument at Corner Stone Park, Fair Street and Rt. 52 in Carmel at 8pm.


CEREMONY AT FORT TOTTEN
Once again, the Army at Fort Totten, under the Command of Colonel Robert Cooley, will honor fallen FDNY members; FM Ronald Bucca, Lt. Andrew Fredericks, FF Michael Mullan, FF Mark Whitford, and FF Shawn Powell. These members were also servicemen within the US Army, who were lost on September 11th, 2001. This year the ceremony will be held on Sunday, September 13th at 11am. The Army is requesting FDNY members to join them in formation during the ceremony. Interested members should contact Queens Borough Command.
