Long Beach City Council has announced imminent plans to lay off more than half our Long Beach Professional Firefighter brothers in IAFF Local 287. Long Beach plans to cut its lone 5-man Engine staffing down to 2 Firefighters and an Officer. As a result, due to OSHA two-in, two-out safety rules they will no longer be able to enter residents’ homes on fire, (including many FDNY members), until the volunteers arrive much later.

The UFA, UFOA and EMS unions will NOT stand by and let nearly 300 of our families be endangered!
