Uniformed Firefighters Association to Host Holiday Celebration for Families of Lost Firefighters

November 19, 2017 @ 12:00 am

NEW YORK CITY – On Sunday, the Uniformed Firefighters Association (UFA) will host a holiday celebration at the Fire Museum for the widows and children of those who have lost a loved one in the line of duty as one of New York’s bravest. This holiday event will include an appearance from Santa along with gifts and socializing with UFA and UFOA leadership and members, FDNY Chief of Department James E. Leonard and more.

Each year, the UFA brings together families for an afternoon of celebration, camaraderie, and holiday spirit. Last year’s holiday event brought together over 100 members of the New York firefighting community.

Many the widows of New York’s firefighters remain active within the firefighting community, participating in regular UFA events such as summer picnics, firehouse holiday parties and company dinners.

Over the last 100 years, more than 1,100 firefighters and fire officers have lost their lives on the job.
