Firehouse Kitchen Talk: “Quantifying the Mental & Physical Demands of Firefighting”

September 16, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join Friends of Firefighters for a firefighter-prepared dinner followed by an informative presentation from Lt. Jason Brezler, R-2. Firefighting is commonly regarded as one of the most “stressful” jobs in America. But just how physically and mentally stressful is firefighting? Historically, the “stressful” assertion has been supported with little more than anecdotal evidence. In recent years however, FDNY performance leaders have embarked on an important mission to quantify the physical, mental, and physiological demands of firefighting. Jason’s presentation will highlight what FDNY performance leaders are learning in the process. Open to active & retired FDNY firefighters only. No RSVP necessary.
