Active Firefighter Rob Olsen, a 23-year veteran of Engine 229 & Ladder 146 that was active in the efforts at Ground Zero, was diagnosed with advanced ALS. After initially being misdiagnosed, Rob’s condition continued to deteriorate. Many of Rob’s exceedingly expensive treatments are not covered by insurance, as the WTC Health Program does not include neurological illnesses such as ALS in its list of 9/11 related illnesses. In an effort to help relieve Firefighter Olsen and his family of any undue burden, a fundraiser is being held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Mulcahy’s Pub in Wantagh, NY. Cost is $75 per person at the door, and includes an open bar, food buffet, live music, raffle, door prizes and more.
