A fast-moving fire swept through a Prospect Lefferts Gardens apartment building on Tuesday afternoon, leaving four civilians and three firefighters with minor injuries, according to authorities.

Firefighters rushed to the scene at 130 Clarkson Ave. shortly after 1:30 pm to find heavy fire and smoke billowing from the fifth floor of the seven-story building.

About 60 firefighters with a dozen fire stations used three hose lines to extinguish the blaze, and searched the apartments for victims while concerned residents looked on.

“As firefighters were making their way into the building, the window frame was bright orange with fire,” recounted building resident Keith Smith.

Authorities deemed the fire under control after about a half hour, with firefighters leaving the scene shortly after 2 pm. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

Paramedics took all seven victims, whose wounds were deemed non-life threatening, to nearby hospitals for treatment, officials said.
